The Columbus Blue Jackets made an announcement today that forward Alexandre Texier won't play the 2022-23 season in Columbus and Texier will be taking a leave of absence.
Texier was reportedly going to be suspended without pay due to the fact he ignored a NHLPA recommendation to take the NHLPA's substance abuse program aswell as a Behavioural Health Program to which he originally refused to go.
The 22-year-old remains in Europe and will play closer to his home and family near Grenoble, France while he tries to get his life in order.
During the past year, I have experienced some personal issues and challenges and I feel I need to be close to my family at this time. I have love and respect for the city of Columbus, the Blue Jackets, and the fans as everyone has always treated me first-class. I truly appreciate the support, help and empathy I have received from team management, the coaching staff, doctors, trainers and my teammates. This was a hard decision, but it is the best one for me right now."
Last March, Texier was granted a leave of absence by the club after he suffered a finger injury on January 26 vs. Calgary.
The young 22 year old has been with the Jackets for 4 seasons now and was seen a huge part of the teams rebuild.
We at House of Hockey wish this young man nothing but the best and hope he gets all the help he needs!
