When Johnny Gaudreau left the Calgary Flames we didn't think things could get much worse for the organization, but we were wrong, it has now been confirmed by multiple sources that Matthew Tkachuk is leaving the Flames via trade, and it will be happening soon.
The St. Louis Blues are apparently heavily interested in Tkachuk, which would be fitting as his dad was a long time Blue. Many believed that at the drafts the Blues would try and trade up to draft one or both the brothers, but were unable to do so, but now it looks like they have the opportunity to trade for him.
According to the Athletics Jeremy Rutherford, the Blues offered a package of Jordan Kyrou, Torey Krurg and a 1st round pick for Matthew Tkachuk, which the Flames turned down.
If you ask me, this is a fair offer for a disgruntled player who is going to be leaving as a UFA at the end of next season regardless. Krug is a great two-way defenceman with a lot of offensive upside, and Kyrou is the same age as Tkachuk and put up 27 goals and 75 points in 74 games last season.
