The other night we saw Auston Matthews start a scuffle with Philadelphia Flyers Travis Konecny, and when Konecny had enough and wanted to fight, Matthews just stood around watching as all his teammates came and defended him.
Then when it was over, Matthews gave Konecny another crosscheck, which again he stood there and watched as his whole team did all the work.
Former NHL player Mike Rupp, was not a fan and broke down the whole sequence of this embarrassing display:
Another former NHL player absolutely agreed with Rupp and decided to add his two-cents:
Totally agree this is embarrassing for 34 and the leafs - He stood there smiling while everyone on the ice is either in a scrum or a fight bc of his actions. This isn't a good example of a good leader at all
