If you remember all the way back to the 2022 NHL trade deadline, we saw a very rare trade rejection from the NHL, due to a miscommunication. The Vegas Golden Knights tried to trade Evgenii Dadonov to Anaheim but were unaware of Dadonov's no-trade list, which Anaheim was a part of. Now, it looks like Anaheim is trying to make a stand against the league for this fiasco.
According to a recent report by Elliotte Friedman, the Anaheim Ducks are demanding that the league give them a compensatory draft pick due to their rejected trade for Dadonov. Their reasoning for this demand is that the trade being rejected was not their fault, as they were not informed of his no-trade list.
According to Elliotte, the Ducks have asked the NHL for a compensatory draft pick for the botched Dadonov trade a few years ago, as the incident was not on their side.

It looks like Anaheim has had enough of Gary Bettman's shenanigans, and is finally demanding justice. In a draft class as stacked as this one, it's great timing by the Ducks.
There are a few parties you could point the finger at in this particular case. At the time, many people blamed Vegas for not informing Anaheim of Dadonov's no-trade list, but Vegas claimed innocence. According to Vegas, they had not been informed of Dadonov's no-trade list when they acquired him from Ottawa, so the blame instead fell on the Senators.
Some people blamed Gary Bettman and the NHL directly, as they felt the league hadn't done an adequate job ensuring that their teams had all the necessary information on their players and their contracts.
It's unclear who the Ducks blame in this situation, but they want some form of reparations regardless. We can't wait to see what their compensation is!
