We've seen an off-season in the NHL full of shockers, and with just two weeks to go until the regular season begins for many teams, we've seen some more. On Friday, it was announced that no less than 18 players were placed on waivers by their respective teams, with some very intriguing names on the list.
The six teams that make up this lengthy transactions list are Vancouver, Columbus, Seattle, New York, Philadelphia and Ottawa, and with many teams still looking to sort out their own rosters, it's the perfect time for teams to use waivers, as it's more likely that their players will pass through.
On the list of 18 players, there are very few that are capable of competing at the NHL level right now, but with some teams having much less depth in their organization than others, some of these names will no doubt get a look, even if some fans don't believe in anyone in the group.
When the season gets going and players struggle and surge and the NHL level, there will be much more intriguing waiver groups, but for now, this is a list of 18 players that likely won't get the chance to compete at the NHL level anytime soon, whether they pass through waivers unclaimed or find themselves on a brand new team.
