This is the last thing that New Jersey Devils fans want to see - forward Jack Hughes was hurt tonight against the Golden Knights and left the game clutching his arm.

The New Jersey Devils could be without top forward Jack Hughes for a while.
He was hurt late in the 3rd period of tonight's game against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena in Sin City.
With the Devils trailing 2-0 and hoping to break the shutout bid of goaltender Adin Hill, Hughes broke in on 2-on-1 rush attempt but was tripped from behind by Jack Eichel and smashed shoulder first into the boards.
He emerged back onto his skates and was clutching his shoulder, bent down at the waist as he made his way back toward the Devils bench and eventually down the team tunnel toward the dressing room.
Ironically, Hughes and Eichel recently played together for the Americans during the 4 Nations Faceoff.
Head coach Sheldon Keefe was furious that there was no penalty call on the play, and was seen barking at the on-ice officials. They responded by slapping him with a game misconduct, ending his night behind the New Jersey bench; he could be subject to a fine from the NHL for his actions.
The Devils currently occupy the 3rd spot in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 33-23-6 and are on the verge of returning to the Stanley Cup playoffs for the 1st time since 2023 after having missed last year.
Hughes has played in 61 games this year, scoring 70 points (21G, 43A). He was taken by the Devils 1st overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
Update
Per Sheldon Keefe, Jack Hughes' injury doesn't look good and will require further evaluation.
