The unbelievable reason Logan Thompson didn't make Team Canada's Four Nations roster finally revealed

Over the past decade or so, Canadian goaltending has seemingly fallen off.

Most of the top goalies and goalie prospects in the world come from other countries.

In fact, just three of the top ten and four of the top twenty goalies by save percentage in the NHL this season are Canadian.

One of those netminders is Logan Thompson, who currently boasts a .923 save percentage in 29 starts with the Capitals.

The only goalie with a better save percentage is Connor Hellebuyck, who has been widely considered as one of the best goalies in the world for some time now.

Because of this, Thompson seems like a slam-dunk, no-brainer, obvious pick for Team Canada at the Four Nations tournament.

And yet, he is not on the roster. Instead, Canada will be taking Jordan Binnington, Adin Hill, and Sam Montembeault.

For reference, Adin Hill has a .900 save percentage this season. Binnington has an .899 and Montembeault has an .898.

All three goalies have goals-against averages of at least half a goal per game higher than Thompson as well.

So why is Thompson not representing Canada at the Four Nations tournament?

Statistically speaking, he has been far better than all three of these goalies this season.

As it turns out, Team Canada's coaches, Paul Maurice and Peter DeBoer, hold a personal grudge against Thompson from their time coaching him in Vegas and that is why they didn't want him on the team.

Quite frankly, this is embarrassing for Hockey Canada as it proves that the organization is just a boys club, and who you know and who you tick off matters more than your actual skill, talent, or statistics.

Hopefully, Canada won't regret leaving Thompson off the roster but if they do, he will be getting the last laugh.
