Capitals GM Brian MacLellan has just received some major news from Alex Ovechkin: trade for not only Sidney Crosby, but also Connor McDavid.
The Capitals have been a very busy club since free agency began, signing the likes of Andrew Mangiapane and Pierre-Luc Dubois, and now it appears that Ovechkin wants even more, a whole lot more. Ovi wants to be able to call Crosby and McDavid his teammates, and he expects his GM to comply with his request.
Ovi has been used to facing off against Crosby in some pretty heated battles over the years, even leading to some intense playoff games. Now, Ovechkin wants Crosby on his side as he attempts to chase Wayne Gretzky's goal record. Add Connor McDavid to the mix, and Ovi will likely shatter that record.
The Capitals were swept by the Rangers in the playoffs, and it left a very sour taste in Ovechkin's mouth, so much that he is now taking it out on his GM by demanding the acquisition of two perennial superstars. Brian MacLellan, get to work!
