Mitch and Steph Marner are expecting a new addition to their family, the couple announced this week in a photo post.

The Vegas Golden Knights winger and his wife did not share a due date or say whether they are expecting a boy or a girl.
The announcement was accompanied by photography credited to Sarah Stevenson.
Marner turned 29 in May and is heading into his second season in Vegas. He signed an eight-year contract worth $96 million when he arrived, carrying a $12 million cap hit through 2032-33.

A first year in the desert that went about as well as possible

Marner posted 80 points in 81 regular-season games in his first year with the Golden Knights, with 24 goals and 56 assists. Those numbers landed right in line with what Vegas expected when they moved to acquire him.
The team went on a deep run, reaching the Stanley Cup Final against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Marner was among the postseason scoring leaders for much of that run.

A long runway ahead in Vegas

The contract term means the Marners are settled for a while.
That is a meaningful difference from the last few years of his time in Toronto, where his future was a weekly talking point.
Marner arrived in Vegas through a sign-and-trade with the Maple Leafs in the summer of 2025, with Nicolas Roy heading the other way.
Vegas gained an extra contract year through that structure, something only Toronto could offer him at the time.
He was originally drafted fourth overall by Toronto in 2015 and spent nine seasons there.
For now, though, the hockey side of it can wait.
Congratulations are in order for the Marner family.
