Alex Pietrangelo Makes Official Decision on Retirement Amid Serious Injuries
Alex Pietrangelo is likely to miss the entire 2025/26 season, but according to reports, he's not quite ready to consider retirement as of yet.
After a career spanning 17-years between Vegas and St. Louis, Alex Pietrangelo has been through some wars, and obviously, it's taken a major toll on the 35-year old's body.
That injury toll will unfortunately cost Pietrangelo the entirety of the 2025/26 regular season, with some questioning if he'll ever be able to play in the National Hockey League again.
Pietrangelo shuts down retirement speculation
While Pietrangelo didn't guarantee that he'd play in the NHL again, during a recent interview, he revealed that he's going to rehab his injury and push for a return, noting that he's not ready to be a coach just yet.
"You go through the process. You consult with the doctors and you try to come up with a plan. I'm going to try and rehab it and see how it is. I've talked to a lot of people who've had it. The rehab process is the way I want to do it.
I love being part of the locker room. We've got a lot of young guys, be it here (in Vegas) or in Henderson. So to be able to be around, talk to them is great. But I don't know if I want to be a coach just yet."

At 35-years of age, the end of Pietrangelo's career is coming soon, but whether that's after this season or not, only time will tell as he looks to get back on the ice for the Golden Knights.
If he were to retire, Pietrangelo would go down as one of the most successful blue liners of this past generation, but given Vegas' Stanley Cup hopes, there's still plenty to drive the veteran to make his return.
