The Toronto Maple Leafs have been through a whirlwind of emotions over the past few days, and now, it appears that the organization is going after Gary Bettman and the NHL.
Several days ago, Morgan Rielly was assessed a match penalty in the final seconds of a loss to the Ottawa Senators for a cross check to the face of Ridley Greig.
Then, it was reported that he would be facing the NHL's Department of Player Safety, who would ultimately go on to suspend the veteran defenseman for a total of five games.
Toronto upset with a leak in information from the NHL
Now it has been revealed that Brad Treliving and the organization are furious with the NHL, as they will protest the suspension, but that's not the reason for their reported anger.
«That's what has them as wrangled as I've heard from my Leafs sources in a long long time,» Dreger said before the game against the St. Louis Blues. «I'll use the word disappointed, that's not the word that was thrown at me in describing the events of the day.»
According to Darren Dreger, the team are furious that the results of the hearing with the NHL's DoPS were leaked, as teams will often be contacted directly before the story is broken by reporters.
It was the above tweet of Kevin Weekes that reportedly caused the fury of the Maple Leafs, so we will now wait and see how this plays out in the coming days.
