NHL refs stop the Leafs from pulling off classless move
The Boston Bruins and the Toronto Maple Leafs meet again for another first round series in what we can assure you is a venegance series for the Leafs as they have been proven unsuccessful each time. Throughout the series, there will be a ton of trash talking, foul play, and tough decisions by referees, which makes this rivalry so great. Last night, NHL referees had to intervene over a questionable call.
On Saturday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs fell 5-1 to the Boston Bruins in a match where their big 4, Auston Matthews, John Tavares, Mitch Marner and Morgan Rielly were no where to be seen, the Bruins unleashed on them from start to finish. Near the end of the game, a frustrated Maple Leafs made a classless decision which caught the eyes of the referees.
According to a report from 98.5 The Sports Hub's Ty Anderson, a player on the Maple Leafs attempted to skate away with the match puck despite losing. It is a sign of disrespect as the Bruins intend to use all their game winning pucks to form a ladder board and rack up all their pucks as "wins", from 1-16 in the playoff campaign, a playoff tradition used by many teams across the NHL come playoff time.
The Bruins win Game 1 by a 5-1 final and the Leafs are trying to skate off the ice with the game puck. Referees had to intervene.
Classless behaviour by the Leafs who have managed to embarass themselves twice in one night.
