A new report from NHL analyst Jim Parsons has provided a potential timeline for a trade involving Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are coming off of another disappointing season this time ending before even earning a playoff berth.
With the lack of success, reports have suggested that Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews is now reconsidering his future in Toronto.
As the offseason approaches, Jim Parsons has urged the Maple Leafs to place an official deadline on Auston Matthews' decision regarding his future in Toronto.

In a new report, Parsons has been adamant that the Maple Leafs cannot allow Matthews to dictate the timing of this process.
He believes Chayka should demand a commitment for the future from Matthews before the 2026 NHL Draft begins.
If neither player, particularly the captain, is ready to commit to the organization by the time the NHL Entry Draft arrives, the Maple Leafs need to act. Sitting idle is not a solid game plan. The Leafs need answers. Are you in, or are you out? And those answers need to come before the draft.
This type of deadline will allow the Maple Leaf to properly plan heading into the draft whether they are looking to still compete immediately or build for the future.
If Matthews wants to leave his trade could be used to acquire several major assets for the future including potential draft picks for this season according to Parsons.
Should Matthews be unsure, Chayka has to consider trading his superstar. Sure, Matthews has a full no-move, and he'll dictate where he goes, but any deal will likely include a first-round pick.
If Chayka were to stick to this deadline then he and Mats Sundin have just over a month to pull off a trade or secure a commitment from Matthews.
As the draft and the offseason approach all eyes will be on Toronto to see what Chayka has up his sleeve to improve the Maple Leafs future.
