John Tavares Breaks the Silence On His Future With the Toronto Maple Leafs

John Tavares has been on fire in 2024/25, and while many are looking to the summer to see how much he'll get paid, he isn't worrying about that at this stage.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are having a fantastic regular season run, and with the Stanley Cup Playoffs right around the corner, they currently sit in the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic Division.
There are many reasons for that, but perhaps one of the biggest is John Tavares, who just earned the Maple Leafs vote for the Masterson Trophy on the back of some great performances on and off the ice that have drawn rave reviews from teammates.

However, this could be his final season in Toronto with his free agency status in the upcoming off-season, and while he could be thinking about it, when asked he stated that he's simply looking towards every game and will deal with his free agency when the time comes.

With 71 points in 70 games played this season, Tavares is earning himself a solid final deal in the NHL, and while many expect him to remain in Toronto, there may just be value in another contender looking to land his signature.
If his play continues like this, there will no doubt be many interested parties in him, but for now, he's simply looking to take these Maple Leafs deep into the Stanley Cup Playoffs before any of that is discussed.
