The Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers were on course to meet in the playoffs again, but after the Leafs failed, Matthew Tkachuk called them out.

After coming back from 3-1 to force overtime in game seven, the Toronto Maple Leafs fell in dramatic fashion after a David Pastrnak game winner, and it didn't take long for Bruins captain Brad Marchand to troll his biggest rival.

That was followed up by TD Garden in Boston showing footage of Maple Leaf Square in the arena, much to the pleasure of the Bruins fans in attendance.

Now, less than 24 hours later, Maple Leafs rival Matthew Tkachuk has chimed in, trolling the Maple Leafs as he claims the Panthers never expected them to get past round one.

Tkachuk: "Without this coming out too badly, I think we all knew it was probably going to Boston the way that series was going...I think throughout the whole series we were probably expecting they were going to come out and win it one way or another."

The Maple Leafs may have failed again in the playoffs, but they have a star studded roster that could go on a run in 2024-25 with some tweaks to the organization, so don't expect this to be the last moment in the brewing Panthers-Maple Leafs rivalry.
