Rampant Sidney Crosby Trade Rumours Finally Commented On by Elliotte Friedman

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has finally shared his thoughts on the Sidney Crosby trade rumors, doing little to stop the speculation which many lead many yo believe that the Penguins will actually move him at some point.
With the Pittsburgh Penguins seemingly heading into a rebuild, there has been a ton of speculation as to who could be traded next.
Of course, much of that speculation has surrounded core players including Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin.
However, Penguins insider Josh Yohe has stated that Letang is impossible to trade at this point in his career.
That being said, no Penguins player has had more speculation surrounding them than Sidney Crosby.
It seems natural that that would be the case considering how significant Crosby is to the Penguins' organization, but also how much value he could get them if he were moved in a trade.
However, Crosby himself as well as Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas have continued to say that number 87 isn't going anywhere.
Today, Elliotte Friedman added his thoughts to this discourse.
He would not say whether or not he thinks Crosby ultimately gets moved, leaving it ambiguous, but the fact that he didn't shut down the rumors in their entirety makes many believe that it could still happen.
He specifically mentioned the Colorado Avalanche and Montreal Canadiens as popular destinations, at least among fans.
Of course, either team would give Crosby a much better chance at winning another Stanley Cup than he has if he stays in Pittsburgh.
Both teams have unique qualities that could attract the Penguins legend.
The Avalanche have Nathan MacKinnon, one of Crosby's best friends, while the Canadiens are his childhood team.
MacKinnon recently shut down rumors linking Crosby to the Avalanche, but at the end of the day, it seems like no one outside of Crosby himself and Kyle Dubas really know what the plan is.
Could we see Sid the Kid wearing a different jersey at some point over the next two years?
It would certainly feel wrong to a lot of fans, especially those in Pittsburgh, but perhaps it is more likely than the Penguins are letting on.
