There are rumblings that Matvei Michkov may be coming to North America a few years early and Philadelphia Flyers GM Daniel Briere has commented on them.

During the 2023 NHL draft, one of the biggest storylines was where Matvei Michkov would be going. Many thought he was one of the most talented players of the draft but due to his contract in the KHL, many believed it would be three years till he came to North America. Eventually, the Philadelphia Flyers selected Michkov 7th overall with the idea that it would take him three years to come to the NHL.

However, since then, there have been rumblings that Michkov could come to the NHL as soon as next season. GM Daniel Briere has commented on the situation sharing that he is relatively in the dark.

«We follow what's going on through the media mostly. There's some ups and downs there, back and forth, it seems. It just seems to change on a daily basis. We're hopeful. But at the same time, when we drafted him, we knew it would be three years." - GM Briere on Matvei Michkov

With the situation changing on a day-to-day basis, the Flyers will remain hopeful that Michkov comes over early but if he does not, then they will wait a few more years till he wears the Flyers jersey.
