900-game NHL veteran Ryan Johansen has contract terminated by the Flyers
The Philadelphia Flyers have issued a statement saying Ryan Johansen has breached his contract which has now resulted in a termination.
With just one year remaining at $8 million on his contract with Philadelphia, Ryan Johansen has just been terminated and placed on unconditional waivers. This information was revealed by insider Elliotte Friedman.
The reason for the termination appears to be due to a material breach as per an official statement made by the Flyers, however exact details were not specified.
Ryan Johansen has stated that he is going to fight this by filing a grievance, so it is expected that this is going to create quite the delay. The Flyers have said they will fight back too.
Ryan Johansen was expected to suit up for the first time this season with his new club, however now that the Flyers terminated him, that won't happen. Johansen has scored 202 goals and 578 points in 905 career NHL games.
