The Ottawa Senators have underwhelmed in recent years, and even with trade speculation, it appears captain Brady Tkachuk isn't going anywhere.
For years now, the Ottawa Senators have had the expectations of being a Stanley Cup Playoff team, but after underwhelming year after year, trade speculation has run rampant around the team. That led to two big trades this summer, with Jakob Chychrun on the way out and Linus Ullmark joining the team, but it may not be the end of their moves according to trade rumours.
"The sens have something cooking right now. Rumor Boys hearing that Ottawa would maybe move Brady Tkachuk. Can't believe it though because no one could be that dumb. 9 points out of playoffs with 2 games in hand" Whitney said back at the end of February.
That comes from Spittin Chiclets host Ryan Whitney and is just one example of speculation around Tkachuk, but now the Sens captain has addressed them, and it should make Ottawa fans incredibly optimistic.
"[The rumours] are exactly why I got off of social media because these rumours came out of no-where and are not at all how I'm feeling. I've always said that my number one goal is to bring a Stanley Cup back to Ottawa /.../ the dream and the fire to do it burns even more now, the rumours are nowhere near true." Tkachuk said.
Senators GM Steve Staios has also called the rumours 'complete bull', and with the team having the talented pieces to compete, it makes sense that Tkachuk wants to remain with the team. It's been almost 100 years since the Senators saw a Stanley Cup, and with the arrival of a star goaltender, they will certainly feel 2025 is their year to take a big step forward.
