Cody Glass' career has been underwhelming after being a top-10 pick in the NHL Draft, and now, it appears as though he's set for free agency this summer.

The New Jersey Devils were aggressive over the past 12 months in acquiring talent to help a Stanley Cup Playoffs push, but in the end, bad luck with injuries caught up to them as they ended up falling in the first round to the Carolina Hurricanes.
Now, it appears as though they are set to let go of an intriguing piece they picked up at the trade deadline, as reports have revealed that they won't be extending a qualifying offer for former No. 6 overall pick Cody Glass, who is then set to become an unrestricted free agent.
This is a surprise move for New Jersey given what great depth Glass can provide them for a forward group that's seen plenty of injuries, as he would end up notching 7 points and a +4 differential in 14 games played with the team since arriving at the trade deadline.
The 26-year old has now played in Vegas, Nashville, Pittsburgh and New Jersey, and while he's been a solid depth piece at every place he's ever played, he's never quite ascended to the heights that you would expect from a former No. 6 overall draft pick.
With a career high of 35 points with the Predators back in 2022/23, Glass has shown he can be a solid bottom-six forward in the NHL that offers good size and production, and while the Devils clearly don't see him as a long-term fit in that role, don't be surprised to see another team push hard to land him in free agency to be in their bottom-six moving forward.
