New Jersey Devils eyeing trades with $9 million defenseman, $6 million forward
The New Jersey Devils are eyeing some big trades this season, and now, the two key pieces they want to deal most have officially been revealed.
The New Jersey Devils were in on Quinn Hughes as they tried to unite all three Hughes brothers in the National Hockey League, but reportedly, they couldn't make the salary cap space to get a deal done.
While Hughes was subsequently traded to the Minnesota Wild, that doesn't mean the Devils have stopped looking to make moves, as they aim to upgrade their team for a potential Stanley Cup run in the wide open Eastern Conference.
Devils looking to move two key veterans in trades
Now, we know of two key pieces that the Devils are looking to trade, with Kevin Weekes reporting that both Ondrej Palat and Dougie Hamilton are players that the team are looking to move in a deal.
According to Weekes, both players have recently been discussed in trade talks, and while it's unclear how close any deal has come involving the $9 million defenseman or the $6 million forward, it's safe to say that they've been aggressive in shopping both players.
For now, the Devils will continue to be aggressive as they look to upgrade this roster, and even after missing out on Hughes, things shouldn't change for GM Tom Fitzgerald and this team.
Whether or not they move either Hamilton or Palat, only time will tell, but this is a team that believe they're a contender in the East, and with neither playing at their best this season, it's safe to say that if they can move one or both, it will be a major success for the organization.
