New Jersey Devils defenseman Brenden Dillon, who was playing in his 1,000th career NHL game last night, had to leave after getting injured during a fight against Dmitri Voronkov at Prudential Center.

New Jersey Devils defenseman Brenden Dillon was playing in the 1,000th game of his NHL career last night at Prudential Center against the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets, but he had to eventually leave after an injury.
Dillon go into a scrap with Dmitri Voronkov and was slammed to the ice, and was clearly woozy afterward and had to be helped to the bench by his teammates and leave the game.
He was the first of two Devils defensemen to leave the game, as Jonas Siegenthaler was thrown from the game for not having his sweater tucked in during a fight of his own later on.
The Devils are already dealing with a significant injury after top forward Jack Hughes was hurt during a freak accident that took place during a team dinner, resulting in a cut on his hand that required surgery. His estimated time of recovery was between six and eight weeks.
So far this year, Dillon has nine points (3G, 6A) in 26 games.

Devils Coach Sheldon Keefe Was Angry After Brenden Dillon's Injury

After the game, Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe was clearly upset at Voronkov and said that his actions were something a player like Dillon wouldn't ever do during a game.
[Dillon] would never do something like that to another player. That I know for certain. Yeah, I don't like it. I don't think Dillon knows he's in a fight, and he's tackled from behind. Before he knows it, his helmet's off, his jersey is over his head, and we saw what happened from there.

Dillon has played for multiple teams during his NHL career and would have liked a better outcome for himself personally during his milestone game.
