Predators captain Roman Josi has been suffering from headaches for months, and unfortunately for him, he has just been diagnosed with a rare disease.

After a vicious check on Feb. 25 against the Florida Panthers, Roman Josi suffered a concussion, his second, and has not played since.
The Nashville Predators' captain also sat out the World Championship, experiencing recurring headaches that were a matter of serious concern regarding his health.
Josi experienced headaches every day for weeks and felt insecure. In an interview with 'Blick', he stated that the symptoms really unsettled him.
"I've been worried several times in recent months that my brain is damaged."

A complete medical workup in Denver later ruled out any head injury but did verify another diagnosis: postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS).
POTS is a condition that results in a very rapid heart rate upon standing, most typically leading to dizziness, headaches, and lightheadedness.

Josi used to faint often as a child, which is possibly related to this diagnosis

It accounted not only for his current symptoms, but perhaps for fainting episodes Josi experienced as a child, ones his mother Doris recalled but never treated medicinally when he was a child.
The diagnosis, bad as it was, was enlightening. Since learning about this, Josi has been treated in the form of therapy and beta blockers. He is "much better" now, he says, and symptoms are fading away gradually.
Encouragingly, the Swiss NHL phenom continued light on-ice practice, a major step in the right direction.
"I've regained the belief that I'll be 100% fit again and can fully attack with Nashville and the Swiss national team next winter."

After a difficult battle, Josi is again optimistic about his health and career.
