Quinn Hughes hinted contract news could come soon with the Wild, and he returns to Vancouver Sunday night after sitting out the final 7:12 in Seattle.

Quinn Hughes walks into Rogers Arena on Sunday night for the first time as a visitor, with his contract future hanging in the air.
The Wild defenseman faces the Canucks at 10 p.m. ET, his first game in Vancouver since the Dec. 12, 2025 trade.
Minnesota gave him a breather late in Saturday's game in Seattle by benching him.
Jeff Paterson noted Hughes sat the final 7:12 with a big lead, finishing with 22:49 of ice time, and his only shift in the last nine minutes lasted eight seconds.

Hughes says a decision may be close

Hughes spoke about his contract Saturday and made it clear he feels settled in Minnesota.
He hinted news could come soon, though he doesn't know when, and he likes the group around him, including Jonas Brodin, Jared Spurgeon and Brock Faber.
He believes the Wild can win this season.
"Something could happen soon."

Connor Hellebuyck, his Team USA teammate and friend, was traded to the Devils the day before and now joins Jack and Luke Hughes in New Jersey.
Hughes said that is not on his mind and he's happy for them.

Larkin talk will not sway him

Hughes also pushed back on talk tying his future to Dylan Larkin, whom the Wild have pursued hard.
He likes how Larkin would improve the team, but said he's not discussing it with GM Bill Guerin and it wouldn't change anything.
The wait, he said, comes down to wanting to slow down and savor a massive career moment.
Vancouver fans will remember him as the Canucks' all-time leading scorer among defensemen, with 432 points in 459 games.
This season he has 14 points in 12 games for the Wild.
