Kirill Kaprizov suffers last minute injury: Disaster may be looming in Minnesota

The Minnesota Wild have been a good team for a number of years, but unfortunately, they're still yet to go on a deep post-season run that would have some in the Western Conference seeing them as genuine Stanley Cup contenders.

This season, they seemingly went all-in on a run after moving several pieces to acquire Vancouver's Quinn Hughes, and as a result, they're considered one of the top three teams in the West as the Stanley Cup Playoffs rapidly approach.

To be a true contender however, the team need to be healthy, and unfortunately, that's something they've struggled with in recent years, especially from star winger Kirill Kaprizov, who has appeared in 75 games or less in four of his five seasons in the NHL.

Ahead of their Thursday night showdown with the Chicago Blackhawks, the fans were given news that no one wanted to hear, as Kaprizov was officially ruled out, with the team labelling him as day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

In 69 games this season, Kaprizov has once again been fantastic, and with 38 goals and 80 points in that time, he's once again got the team and their fans excited about the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Ultimately though, this team won't be seen as a threat until they can finally make some noise when it matters most, and if Kaprizov is out for any significant time as a result of this injury, it's not going to help their chances in 2025/26.
