Pacific division team reportedly in 'advanced discussions' to hire Pete DeBoer as new head coach
The Los Angeles Kings are in the middle of the Pacific Division this year, but now they're reportedly ready to shake things up and hire Pete DeBoer.
This past off-season, there was plenty of speculation about the future of Jim Hiller as the Head Coach of the Los Angeles Kings, especially after some disastrous decision making in their series with the Edmonton Oilers.
However, while they made a change at General Manager, they kept Hiller behind the bench, but even after a 12-8-7 start through their first 27 games, it appears as though they're ready for a change.
Peter DeBoer linked to the Kings
Shockingly, Insider Cam Robinson has now revealed that Peter DeBoer, a person that also lost to the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Playoffs is in deep discussions with the team on potentially becoming their next Head Coach.
Even back in June, DeBoer was considered a perfect fit for the Kings if they moved on from Hiller, and while they're off to a fine start, this is a team looking to go deep in the post-season, so a change or two makes sense for the organization moving forward.
As Robinson mentions, DeBoer is content with life beyond the stresses of being a Head Coach, but with the desire remaining, there's a good chance that he's behind the bench in the NHL again, sooner rather than later.
Ultimately, DeBoer has had great success in the regular season as a coach, going 662-447-152, and given that his teams have made the conference finals six times and the Stanley Cup Finals twice, he's still hungry to hoist the Cup, and that may result in him joining the Kings in the near future.
