The Florida Panthers have placed MacKenzie Entwistle on waivers, per Elliotte Friedman, and the depth forward is back on the wire again.
Another day, another waiver note.
Elliotte Friedman passed along word on Wednesday that yesterday's players have all cleared, and that Florida has now put MacKenzie Entwistle on waivers shortly after Brad Marchand suffered an injury in last night's game.
It isn't a shock if you've followed the Panthers for a while.
Entwistle is 27 and was a third round pick of Arizona in 2017, going 69th overall, before he was traded to Chicago without playing a game for the Coyotes.
He spent his first four NHL seasons with the Blackhawks, picking up 15 goals and 35 points in 193 games.
A familiar spot on the wire
Here's the part that stands out.
This is the third October in a row that Entwistle's name has shown up on the waiver list.
Florida waived him in October 2024 and again in October 2025, and the Charlotte Checkers have been his landing spot before.
He signed a two-year, two-way deal on July 3, 2025, and it runs through this season, with unrestricted free agency waiting in 2027.
His game has never been about the scoresheet.
He is a big right-shot forward at 6 feet 3 inches, and he piled up 139 hits in 67 games with Chicago in 2023-24.
That's the kind of bottom six energy teams like to have around.
What happens next
Now it's a waiting game. Every other team can put in a claim, and if nobody does, Entwistle is free to be sent to the minors.
A claim would be the more interesting outcome, since a club that wants some sandpaper on its fourth line could grab an experienced option.
For Florida, it comes down to roster balance as the season gets going.
Entwistle is simply the latest name caught in the shuffle, and whether he clears again or finds a new home, he's worth watching.
