Matthew Tkachuk played very few minutes in the Four Nations Finale, and now his brother Brady has given an unfortunate injury update on the Panthers star, who dealt with injury issues throughout the tournament.
The Four Nations Face Off was one of the biggest wins the NHL has taken in recent years, with the Finale being one of the most anticipated hockey games in the history of the sport.
Unfortunately for Team USA, it was Canada that came out on top in dramatic circumstances in overtime, and. that is partly due to the injury sustained by Matthew Tkachuk, who played less than 10 minutes of game time after succumbing to the injury he suffered earlier in the tournament.
When asked for an update following the game, his brother Brady had this to say, and it's something that won't make Florida Panthers fans too happy:
"Obviously he battles through absolutely everything, and, yeah, I don't think it's too good. I guess we'll have to wait and see what ends up happening, but I know he was really disappointed."
Obviously this doesn't give us an official timeline on Tkachuk potentially being sidelined, but for his brother to sound so defeated about his injury isn't a good sign at all, as it was clearly enough to keep the passionate forward off the ice in arguably one of the biggest games of his life.
On top of
Quinn Hughes,
Charlie McAvoy and others dealing with injuries at the tournament, Team USA just couldn't catch a break, and ultimately it led to them finishing a close second in the tournament, and now, the focus shifts to the Florida Panthers and Matthew's availability as the team look to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals again in 2025.
