The Oilers are off to a relatively slow start in 2025-26, and now insider Darren Dreger has given a timeline on the organization to make some potential moves.

The Edmonton Oilers have been so close to a Stanley Cup in the past few seasons, and with some changes to the roster and behind the scenes, the organization are hoping that 2025-26 can be their year.
However, they're off to a less than stellar start, posting a record of 10-9-5 through 24 games even after their statement win over the defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers on Saturday night.

Oilers given timeline to right the ship this season

Even with that win though, the fanbase and the organization don't see this as a team that's been at their best early in the season, and with struggles in net and on their blue line, there's a chance that changes could be made.
Now, we know the potential timeline for changes to be made, as Darren Dreger has reported on the Barn Burner podcast that patience is wearing thin, with changes expected within the next two weeks if things don't turn around.
Patience is wearing thin in Edmonton but I'd still give them another 10 days to two weeks to really assess.
It's unclear exactly what changes the front office are eyeing up, but with the team now starting to find a bit of a groove, there's a chance that they can hold off making any changes if momentum continues.
Ultimately though, the West is stacked with contenders in 2025/26, and if the Oilers want to make it back to the Stanley Cup Finals, they'll need to make some major improvements to the team, with some potentially on the way in the near future.
