Leon Draisaitl Addresses 'Worst-Case Scenario' Involving Connor McDavid

The contract status of Connor McDavid remains at the forefront of the Oilers, and Leon Draisaitl is now discussing the issue as the new season gets closer.
The long-term future of Leon Draisaitl with the Edmonton Oilers is already set, as he agreed to a lengthy extension before last season began and is earning the highest AAV (average annual value) of any player in team history - for now.
That could change if and when captain Connor McDavid signs a new contract in Edmonton, but so far, with the new season getting closer, no deal has been agreed upon between McDavid's representation and Oilers GM Stan Bowman.
Per Reddit, Draisaitl spoke on the issue and said that not only is he confident that a deal will get done, but that it's not a distraction to him and the rest of the team in the locker room.
I'm still very confident and hope this gets done soon. I don't think [it's a distraction] at all. If anything, the media is going to make it a distraction. But not within our room.

Edmonton GM Stan Bowman knows that McDavid's contract status is on the minds of Oilers fans.
I realize that's on everyone's mind, the media and the fans, and it's on our minds too. It's one of those things where we've had multiple conversations, and he's been very consistent with what he's been saying to the media as well as to myself and we just kind of go from it from there.
McDavid was taken by the Oilers with the 1st overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
