Former Oilers coach Dave Tippett is fully convinced Connor McDavid will win a Stanley Cup, and he made it clear on Spittin' Chiclets this week.

Dave Tippett has coached a lot of hockey players in his career, and he says none of them compare to what he saw in Edmonton.
The man who ran the Oilers bench for parts of three seasons sat down on the Spittin' Chiclets podcast this week and didn't hold back when the conversation turned to his former captain.
Asked point blank about McDavid's championship chances, Tippett skipped right past the usual coach speak and said his guy is going to get there, plain and simple.
"He'll win. I predict it. It's incredible the things he does, and at his speed he does it. Just the way he takes care of himself. I can't say enough good things about him.”

The praise didn't stop at the prediction either.
Tippett spent a good chunk of the episode talking about what McDavid is like once the cameras stop rolling, calling him one of the best teammates in that Edmonton room and someone who treats people the right way despite living under a microscope every single day.
He also pointed out just how much attention McDavid draws wherever he goes, something that comes with being the face of a franchise chasing its first title since 1990.

A captain with something to prove

McDavid is entering the first season of his two year, $25 million extension, a deal that kept his cap hit exactly where it was and signaled he cares more about winning than cashing in.
That matters even more after Anaheim knocked Edmonton out in six games back in April, a result McDavid himself called nothing special on his way out the door.

Time is running out to end the drought

Tippett didn't shy away from the one thing he'd change about McDavid either, saying his former captain almost seemed embarrassed after his biggest offensive performances instead of owning them.
Small stuff aside, the message was still crystal clear.
Tippett believes the Cup is coming, and soon.
