It seems like there is a very good chance the Edmonton Oilers will be shopping Evander Kane this summer.
Speculation emerged regarding the power forward's status with the Oilers in the days leading up to free agency. For what its worth, Oilers reporter Ryan Rishaug has revealed that the team has not yet asked him to waive his 16-team no-trade list. Of course, it would not be necessary for the team to do so if they were negotiating with a team not on that list.
Some speculation out there about the Oilers and Evander Kane. As of right now, can confirm they have not asked him to waive his no trade at any point.
As it stands, the Oilers forward group is deep and crowded. With the addition of Jeff Skinner as well as the extension for Corey Perry, the team appears to have one of the best forward groups in the league, even without Kane.
We also got an update on Kane's health status today. We already knew he had a sports hernia, but now we know that he was also dealing with a significant hip injury as well. This explains why he was unable to play in the final games of the season.
He was going through an issue with his hip. We are going through the process to see what will occur and he is getting the best care and advice from our doctors. We will discuss options with him and his agent (Dan Milstein), and get second opinions. That is where we are at and nothing is planned ( surgery or just rest/rehab) at this point,» Jeff Jackson on Kane's health.
