Connor McDavid's Dirty Cross-Check: His Victim Makes His Feelings Known About the Edmonton Oilers Captain
After receiving a dirty cross-check from Connor McDavid, Conor Garland revealed his feelings about the Edmonton Oilers captain during an interview.
Over the weekend, the Vancouver Canucks and the Edmonton Oilers faced off in an intense matchup. The Canucks won 3-2 against their Pacific Division rivals, as the Oilers couldn't tie the game in the third period.
To help his team, Conor Garland decided to take Connor McDavid out of the action in the final minute of the game by holding him, stopping him from helping his team in the offensive zone.
It lasted a few seconds, but in the end, McDavid lost his temper and landed a violent cross-check on Garland's face, leading to a massive scrum between all players on the ice.
If you missed it, check out how it happened in the video below:
McDavid was ejected from the game and will face consequences from the NHL's Department of Player Safety in a hearing set to happen on Monday afternoon.
After the game, Garland made his feelings known about McDavid. He called him a "good dude" and a "passionate guy".
"I'm just holding him. I mean, he's the best player to ever do it. So, the time's running out. And I just thought that was maybe the best way for us to win a game was to do that. I don't want to hurt him."
"You know, I don't want to hurt him, want to hold him and hurt him in that way. So, just try to get up and hold him down."
"But he's a passionate guy. He's a good dude. I mean, I don't think he was just his passion. It's a tight game late in the game. Everybody has the fire in their belly trying to win a hockey game. So that's the stuff that happens."
An official verdict from the NHL will be released later today. Stay tuned for the latest developments related to that story.
