The Detroit Red Wings appear to be adjusting their asking price for captain Dylan Larkin as trade talks continue into the fall.
Larkin requested a move away from Detroit earlier this offseason, and general manager Steve Yzerman has spent months fielding offers while holding out for a substantial return.
According to veteran hockey writer Kevin Allen, the Red Wings are softening their stance on what kind of package they'll accept.
Although the Red Wings are not interested in moving him exclusively for futures, they will consider prospects who are close to being ready to be on an NHL roster
What This Means for Potential Suitors
The shift suggests Detroit is less focused on hoarding draft capital and more interested in players who can contribute right away, even if they're not established NHL veterans.
That opens the door for teams with deep, NHL-caliber prospect pools to make a stronger push, rather than relying solely on first-round picks years down the line.
Larkin, who turns 30 this year, has approved a short list of destinations that reportedly includes the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars.
He owns a full no-trade clause, giving him significant control over where he ultimately lands.
Yzerman's Balancing Act
Yzerman has repeatedly stressed he won't rush a decision on his captain, and this updated stance shows he's willing to widen his options rather than box himself into a picks-only demand.
With training camp underway and the season approaching, pressure is mounting for both sides to find a resolution.
