Dmitri Voronkov, who joined the NHL when he was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 4th round in the 2019 draft, might be leaving the NHL to return to the KHL.

Voronkov has played in 69 NHL games in the 2023-24 season, and has already shown his abilities, scoring 17 goals with 15 assists. Despite this impressive start, he may be leaving the NHL before he can reach his full potential. Hockey News Hub reported that Voronkov is in the process of negotiating with the KHL team the Ak Bars.

Voronkov would not be new to the KHL if the Ak Bars are successful in their negotiations. He played for the Ak Bars from 2018 to 2023. Since he has had quite a successful start in the NHL, it is not surprising that his former team is attempting to re-acquire him.
