Colorado Avalanche star Nichushkin gets banned from the NHL for months
It was just announced that Valeri Nichushkin would be getting a six-month ban from the NHL after failing a test for controlled substances.
The NHL just announced that Valeri Nichushkin would be banned from play for six months.
Valeri Nichushkin has been placed in Stage 3 of the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program -- which comes with a minimum six-month suspension without pay before he's eligible to apply for reinstatement.

This is the second time in about a year where Nichushkin made headlines for all of the wrong reasons.
Under the terms of the joint program, Nichushkin will be suspended without pay for a minimum of six months and then will be eligible to apply for reinstatement.
