Colorado Avalanche sign former Flames defenseman to one-year contract
The Colorado Avalanche made a surprise announcement today, revealing that they have signed defenseman Oliver Kylington to a one-year contract.
Kylington last played for the Calgary Flames last season, but he got into just 33 games. In those contests though, he was rather effective, putting up 3 goals and 8 points on a rather poor Flames team.
We have signed Oliver Kylington to a one-year contract.

Shortly after the deal was announced, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed more details, noting that this contract comes with a 1.05 million dollar cap hit. A little more than league minimum for the 27-year-old, but buriable in the AHL if needed.
The deal now means that the Avalanche have just over 2 million dollars in cap space. The team appears set for next season with 12 forwards, 8 defenseman, and 2 goaltenders signed, although they still have Valeri Nichuskin and Gabe Landeskog to deal with. It is quite possible that both players have played their last NHL games.
After signing Kylington for $1.05M, #GoAvsGo have $2.07M Projected Cap Space with with 22 active players (12F/8D/2G) + Nichushkin & Landeskog
Suspended with no pay & no cap hit: Nichushkin $6.125M
Potential LTIR: Landeskog $7M
Stay tuned to see how the Avalanche handle next season.
