Carolina Hurricanes Caught Cutting Costs in Embarrassing Way
Sports teams all over the world have taken criticism for their use of AI in artwork, and now the Carolina Hurricanes are the latest team to be called out for it after an embarrassing use of artwork on social media after their latest victory.
Artificial Intelligence has become much more accessible in recent years, and while that's certainly a positive in some aspects of the world, in others it certainly isn't, with the main sector being hit by the wave of AI being creative spaces.
Unfortunately, using AI is much cheaper, and that's led to many companies and even sports teams cheaping out when it comes to this, and now, the Carolina Hurricanes have been called out for just that.
After their latest victory, the team announced their 'Three Stars' on X, but something didn't quite seem right with the post, as the artwork had many poor qualities and mistakes that were easy to spot.
As a result, many people were quick to realize and criticize the organization for clearly using AI rather than paying someone to produce quality content for their social media.
Sure, for much, much smaller organizations, there's a solid excuse for using AI as it's much cheaper, but at the NHL level where every team pays photographers, videographers, social media coordinators and so many more positions, there's just no excuse to be cheap on the graphics department.
Ultimately, it's unclear if this criticism will get loud enough to reach owner Tom Dundon or the front office, as the cost saving could be worth the public criticism for the organization, but given what incredible creative people we see in the sports world, there's just no need for AI, and we hope that the 'Canes can fix this problem moving forward.
