Jonathan Huberdeau made a recent joke in a press conference, and now his agent has been forced to address the obvious sarcasm after media backlash.

Ever since landing in Calgary, Jonathan Huberdeau has struggled on the ice, and while he put together a solid season in 2024/25, posting 28 goals and 62 points, with his contract, it's going to be impossible to live up to expectations.
Ahead of the new campaign, Huberdeau recently missed a day at training camp, and when he was asked about it, he responded with a joke; 'I woke up and just didn't feel like skating'.

To those in the room, it was a clear joke from No. 10 that got plenty of laughs, but for some in the media, somehow, that wasn't clear, as Sid Seixeiro called out Huberdeau for his bad contract and the comments he made.
Despite being a clear joke, this had to be cleared up by Huberdeau's agent Allan Walsh, who quickly responded on X, making it clear that his client was having some fun with the media, who were clearly happy to be seeing the veteran joking around after a tough few years to start his career in Calgary.
The 32-year old did bounce back a season ago, as he not only posted a career high of 62 points in Calgary, but he became key to the teams PK unit, transforming himself into a well-rounded player that was very effective throughout the 2024/25 season.
Whether or not Huberdeau can take another step forward this season, only time will tell, but clearly, Huberdeau has found his confidence and his happiness once again, and hopefully next time he makes a joke, those on social media can see it for what it is, rather than trying to stir up drama.
