Matthew Barnaby reveals just how much he hates Dominik Hasek

Barnaby, known throughout his career for getting under opponents' skin, made it clear that his frustration with the Hall of Fame goaltender has nothing to do with talent and everything to do with how Hasek treated the people around him.

Barnaby acknowledged that Hasek was the best goaltender of his era, but he described him as a poor teammate who showed little regard for staff, fans, and even fellow players in the Buffalo dressing room.

Barnaby recalled an incident in which Hasek allegedly left a playoff game claiming a knee injury, only to be spotted later that night out of the arena, a story he says was witnessed by a former Buffalo News columnist.

According to Barnaby, that moment cemented his belief that Hasek quit on his team when it mattered most.

The two played together in Buffalo from 1992 until Barnaby's trade to Pittsburgh in March 1999, and the tension apparently never cooled.

Barnaby revealed that Sabres team president Doug Moss once offered him money to avoid confronting Hasek physically after Barnaby publicly hinted he might.

He said he took the offer but still found ways to needle his former teammate. Decades later, Barnaby made his feelings unmistakably clear, saying he still cannot stand the goaltender.

The candid remarks are the latest reminder that not every dressing room dynamic looks the way fans might expect, even among Stanley Cup-era Sabres teams remembered fondly by supporters.
