A new segment on The Jeff Marek Show that featured Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Buffalo Sabres are considering buying out the contract of Jeff Skinner.

The Buffalo Sabres are currently in the longest active playoff drought in the NHL. Veteran forward Jeff Skinner has been a part of these struggles since arriving in 2018. Now a report from Elliotte Friedman has confirmed the Buffalo Sabres might be looking to move on from Jeff Skinner this offseason.

According to Jeff Marek & Elliotte Friedman on TJMS, there is word that a Jeff Skinner buyout is a real possibility this offseason.

Jeff Skinner during his time in Buffalo has been a well liked player but his results have been controversial. On the offensive end of the ice he is a goal scoring winger that is prone to occasional slumps. Defensively he is a low effort player that barely impacts the game positively in his own zone.

Trade and buyout rumours starting to swirl around Jeff Skinner. #LetsGoBuffalo

With GM Kevyn Adams hiring Lindy Ruff who tends to run a more defensive system than what Buffalo had, Jeff Skinner might not fit the new mold. If the Sabres do buy out Jeff Skinner they create over 7 million dollars in salary cap space for this offseason but will be paying back for it, particularly in 2026-27.

As this situation continues to develop we will bring you the latest details on Jeff Skinner's future in Buffalo and beyond.
