Ryan Whitney shares the disrespectful offer the Bruins gave Jeremy Swayman

This summer, the story of Jeremy Swayman has dominated headlines in Boston, and after moving Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators, it's shocking that a deal has not yet been done. Now, we may know why that happens, as Ryan Whitney has revealed the Bruins reported offer to Swayman, which comes in at four years and a shockingly low $6.2 million AAV.

Last season, Swayman played in 44 games, with the 25-year old putting up a .916 save percentage with a 2.53 GAA, and with their other stud now gone, if Swayman can't get a deal done, the future in net for Boston is all of a sudden looking very dreadful. Beyond that, Ryan Whitney also revealed that it's been three weeks since the Bruins have returned Swayman's calls, and with the 2024/25 season beginning next month, this is the last thing that their fans want to see.

While Swayman may not be the league's best goaltender, this contract would make him the eighth highest paid player at the position by AAV, and while that's not the worst spot to be, that offer comes in at $1.5 million AAV behind No. 6 Juuse Saros of the Nashville Predators. In fact, that offer is just $200k above Jordan Binnington of the St. Louis Blues, and while that's no disrespect to the veteran, Swayman is considered to be tiers above him, so it's no wonder Swayman feels so disrespected by the offer.

After arbitration a year ago, there has been suggestions of some hard feelings between the two parties, but if he doesn't get a deal done before the regular season, this could be a very bad situation for Boston, so keep a close eye on this one as the story develops.
