Mike Sullivan became available as a Head Coach on Monday, and according to reports, the Boston Bruins quickly reached out to the veteran about a reunion.

On Monday, the Pittsburgh Penguins finally made the move to part ways with Mike Sullivan after the team missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the third straight season, bidding farewell to the coach that led them to not one but two Stanley Cup wins.
The expectation was that Sullivan wants to continue coaching in 2025/26, and that has meant that teams are wasting no time reaching out, with a report from Bruins reporter Jimmy Murphy that in less than 24 hours, Boston have reached out for a potential reunion with the veteran coach.
According to Murphy, the team wasted no time reaching out to Sullivan's camp, and with the potential that he could become the highest paid coach in the league, the team could look to get a deal done quickly to wrap up the talented coach.
Although he played just 77 games for Boston over one season, Sullivan began his coaching career in Providence with the AHL's Bruins, before taking the leap to the NHL in 2003/04 with the Bruins, lasting just two seasons before a 10-year gap saw him join the Penguins in 2015/16.
While that part of his career in Boston didn't end well, Sullivan showed flashes of being the Head Coach he has become today, and while the Bruins are looking to re-tool on the fly with very little prospects coming through the organization, landing a coach like Sullivan could be the perfect way to speed things up, and with solid cap space ahead of the summer, if they can do just that, free agency becomes much easier for them.
For now, it's expected though that Sullivan will entertain offers from all over the NHL, and while a reunion in Boston may be a very attractive proposition, with teams like Anaheim, Seattle, New York and potentially even Vancouver as options, he will likely have his choice to make.
