It's not every day that you see professional athletes in civil lawsuits, however, that isn't the case for Charlie McAvoy and John Carlson. The two are involved in a lawsuit against IF Management, for false and unauthorized use of their name, image, and likeness (NIL). The details of the lawsuit state that the two's marketing manager, Alexander Aigen, entered into an employment agreement with IF, however, it was terminated. IF then continued to use their NIL without authorization.
"NEW: Star NHL Defensemen Charlie McAvoy and John Carlson sue IF Management and its owner for alleged false and unauthorized use of their NIL (name, image, likeness).
Both players are represented by Alexander Aigen for marketing. Aigen entered into an employment agreement with IF in October, 2022, but was terminated without cause in October, 2023.
Carlson and McAvoy allege IF continued to use their likenesses thereafter without permission."
The lawsuit is taking place in New York, and its unlikely that the two players are heavily involved as they are both competing in the playoffs right now. No specific monetary value is mentioned in the suit.
