Boston Bruins take chance on young Dallas Stars defenseman through waivers
The Boston Bruins are in need of some exciting young talent, and after being waived on Monday, they've claimed talented young defenseman Vladislav Kolyachonok.
NHL waivers was very busy on Monday, with both the Dallas Stars and Detroit Red Wings placing intriguing young players on waivers, with many around the league believing that there could be a few claims incoming.
For the most part, the expectation was that veteran goaltender Laurent Broissoit would be one of those players claimed, but instead, it was the other two players on waivers that found themselves new homes.
Boston Bruins claim talented blue liner Vladislav Kolyachonok
Firstly, Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Boston Bruins have claimed 24-year old defenseman Vladislav Kolyachonok from the Dallas Stars, with Boston set to be his fourth NHL home since he arrived in the league in 2021/22.
In that time, he's played 85 games for the Arizona Coyotes, Utah Hockey Club, Pittsburgh Penguins and Dallas Stars, tallying 5 goals and 17 points in that time, with the former second-round pick still being full of potential.
On top of that, the St. Louis Blues officially claimed Jonatan Berggren from the Detroit Red Wings, with the 25-year old former second-round draft pick coming into the 2025/26 season on the back of a career high 12 goals and 24 points in 75 games played a season ago.
Both of these players simply weren't fits in their current organization's, and while it's unclear whether or not they'll both be impact players at the NHL level, with new homes for both, the hope is that they can start producing consistently moving forward.
