The Boston Bruins season has been all over the place, as they have strung together stretches of momentum and struggle, and right now they're in a period of the latter, as they dropped their fifth straight game on Tuesday to the Edmonton Oilers.
Unsurprisingly, fans were not too happy with the way the 4-0 shutout defeat played out, as they soundly booed the team off the ice in the final seconds of what should have been a competitive contest.
When the players were asked about the situation, it was easy to see that this was affecting them, with star forward Elias Lindholm noting just how embarrassed the team was.
«A lot of disappointment. Embarrassed. Frustration. A lot of things.»
Insider Fluto Shinzawa conducted the interviews, with Charlie Coyle having the deepest answer of the evening while expressing his frustration at how things have played out lately.
«We need to do a better job of that and identifying that and making sure we're doing the right things. It's never going to be a perfect season. No team plays perfect. Every team has lulls.
But we've got to stop the bleeding quicker here. We can't let it seep in game after game like that with his little stretch going on right now.»
Finally, there was Nikita Zadorov, who reiterated that there were no excuses for the way the team played on Tuesday and in recent weeks, as they need to find ways to get the job done.
«That's our job at the end of the day, and we're all getting paid for it. People come and pay tickets, big bucks to watch us do that. It's our job. There's no excuse to find the balance.»
Ultimately, it's very easy to say just how frustrated and embarrassed you are after the fact, but now comes the important bit as the team needs to turn things around, and if things don't change on the ice, we could be seeing a shakeup in the organization.
