Vladislav Kolyachonok was claimed on waivers by the Bruins earlier this season, but now, the team have officially placed the 24-year old on waivers.
The Boston Bruins have been making plenty of moves this season, and back in December, the team claimed 24-year old blue liner Vladislav Kolyachonok from the Dallas Stars after he appeared in 11 games with the team early in the 2025/26 season.
However, they've gotten healthy on defense in recent times, and with the emergence of Jonathan Aspirot as a top-four defenseman, the team simply no longer have a need for Kolyachonok.
Bruins officially waive talented 24-year old
On Tuesday, the team then made it official, as Elliotte Friedman announced on social media that the Bruins have waived Kolyachonok, with the former second-round pick potentially headed to another team.
Since 2021/22, Kolyachonok has played in Arizona, Utah, Pittsburgh, Dallas and now Boston, posting 5 goals and 17 points across 87 games played in the NHL, and while he's a solid depth piece, he simply isn't good enough for a full-time role in the league yet.
For the Bruins, Kolyachonok posted a -1 differential in 2 games this season without scoring, and while the talent is still there, given that he's been waived twice this season now, it's tough to see him finding a role in the near future.
On top of that, Jack Studnicka, who was waived by the Florida Panthers on Monday has officially cleared and will head back to the American Hockey League, and now, all eyes turn to Wednesday to see whether or not Kolyachonok will pass through waivers unclaimed as well.
