Contract extension talks between the Boston Bruins and goaltender Jeremy Swayman appear to have stalled due to some major hurdles.

Boston has had arguably the best goaltending duo in the NHL over the last few seasons in Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman. The team just traded Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators, leaving Swayman to handle the majority of games next season. The problem is that Swayman is currently a restricted free agent, and the Bruins are having trouble signing him. Could both superstar goalies be gone within the same summer?

Kevin Paul DuPont is an NHL Insider from the Boston Globe, and he believes the Bruins don't have enough cap space right now to get Swayman signed to what they believe is a fair deal.

DuPont suggests that while the Boston Bruins have $8.6 million in cap space, they still may have to make a trade to free up a bit more room in order to sign goaltender Jeremy Swayman.

"His next contract, depending on term, is expected to come in north of $9M AAV.»

The Bruins need to figure out their goalie situation quickly, or they may be left with only Joonas Korpisalo as their starter, who was brutal for the Senators last season, having one of the worst save percentages in the league. He was part of the trade that sent Vezina winner goalie Ullmark to the Sens. Swayman is looking to be paid much more than the $3.475 million he was awarded in arbitration last season.

The Bruins and Swayman have until December 1st to reach an agreement or he will not be allowed to play the rest of the season.
