The Arizona Coyotes time has been up for quite some time, and while Gary Bettman looked to keep the team there, it appears they're now on the move.
Earlier today, news broke that the Coyotes to Salt Lake City relocation is picking up major steam, and now Insider Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff has revealed that they are taking the next big step in making things happen.
BREAKING: Sources tell @DailyFaceoff- NHL, Arizona Coyotes & Smith Entertain. Grp have made significant progress on the framework of an agreement to relocate #Yotes to Salt Lake City, Utah.
#NHL memo updated Governors today.
NOT done. Many layers and lawyers. Much work to do.
As noted, a move of this magnitude can't be done quickly, and there are still many steps to go before it becomes official, but the reaction on social media from people following the Coyotes signifies that it's likely going to happen now.
Coyotes fans ... much love, support, and thanks. What a ride this has been. I'll love AZ forever. Hope to see NHL hockey there once again in the future.
This will be a major disappointment for fans of the Coyotes all over Arizona, but simply put, hockey down there never quite worked, and now we will wait and see how quickly this can come together, and whether we will have a team in Salt Lake City for 2024-25.
