Team Canada top defenseman Cale Makar took the ice today after missing last night's game against the United States.
Team Canada had a dude awakening last night when they lost their game to Team USA at the Four Nations faceoff in Montreal.
Now, the tournament will head to Boston for the final games of the round robin and the final on Thursday.
One factor that was working against Team Canada is the fact that they were without their best defenseman, Cale Makar.
Makar is apparently battling an illness, but remains dedicated to the team.
He showed this today as he was one of just two skaters practicing for Canada on their off day.
After the practice, the Avalanche defenseman briefly spoke to reporters, saying that he is prepared to do whatever it takes to play for his country tomorrow as they need a win against Finland.
Depending on how the game between Sweden and the United States goes, Canada may need a win in regulation in order to secure their spot in the finals.
Having a player like Cale Makar in the lineup will certainly go a long way to making that a reality.
Certainly, Team Canada can defeat the Finns without Makar, but it might be a little bit harder in that case.
